Blood letting in the Campus

The Rotary Club of Metro Butuan in cooperation with Sunrise Christian College, the National Service Training Program (NSTP) batch 2007-2008 students and the Philippine National Red Cross have conducted an Operation Blood letting Program last August 4, 2007 at Sunrise Christian College Multi-purpose building . The theme of the program is to “Share A Blood, Save A Nation”. At exactly 9:00 AM, the program started with the orientation regarding the said activity. Mr. Gerome Gacula, a registered Medical Technologist CSR-BS oriented the students, teachers and staff of the school on how to donate blood and what are the benefits of it. He also shared some facts about donating a blood and answered every questions that was raised. He stressed that donating a blood would be a great contribution for the health of our fellowmen who are suffering from diseases such as bleeding due to endemic dengue, anemia, leukemia, hemophilia, and blood loss in patients who undergo surgery and operative procedures.

The Vice President of Sunrise Christian College, Mr. David B. Cariaga a rotarian attended the program. With Him were members of Rotary Club of Metro Butuan (RCMB ) Mr. Joji Garcia, Bong Malayao, Nelson Lisondra, Gody Calo, Helen B. Raposan and also the assistant Secretary of RCMB, Ms. Giselle Cencia were there to assist. Many wanted to donate their blood but there were only nine (9) who qualified to be blood donors namely; Mr. Jonah Nierves and Robert Acapulco who are both College Instructors and college students such as Philip Brent Cariaga (the Governor of the BARE Department), Joseph Cariaga, Manuel Buhisan, Benjie Monter, Sanzelo Ondangan, Josilito Ganancial and Daryll Catalbas. With the help of Mr. Gerome Gacula of Philippine National Red Cross (PNRC) together with volunteers from his team, the program ended successfully.

     Acknowledgement to the Rotary Club of Metro Butuan, Sunrise Christian College, Philippine National Red Cross specially, the blood donors for making the operation blood letting program a successful one.
