Accounting matters
With the new seat of presidency comes along the inclusion of the Accounting Section in the School’s organizational set-up. Basic functions involve bookkeeping, cashiering-cash/check disbursing and collection, taxation, fixed assets monitoring, fund management, financial reporting and management services which is related to the design and installation of the accounting systems and controls.
As part of setting-up, the section is working on the adoption of an accounting software that will be used to automate the preparation of financial schedules and reports, and the design of the accounting manual including flowcharts that will serve as a guide in carrying out the accounting functions and procedures.
The financial reports for the period June to September 2006 was already published to the supporters and concerned brethren, monthly reports will be issued thereafter. This way, we can hold on to the accounting’s groundwork- accountability and transparency.
Internet access
Aiming to provide quality computer education to our students and develop these young minds to be globally competitive in terms of technological advances, the School had tied-up with computer education provider Sybase e-Learning Systems with their program “Millennium Computers for Filipinos”. Sybase e-Learning Systems will provide our School with 15 units of brand new computers coupled with up-to-date curriculum, and will arrange for our internet connection using SMART facilities. Said program will be given to the pre-school and elementary levels to enhance their computer skills and knowledge, giving them an opportunity for growth. The same will be an addition to the existing computer curriculum for high school and college levels, with just a minimal amount to be collected monthly from each pupil and student in exchange of this advancement.
Campus beautification
Part of the School’s drive for campus beautification is a project dubbed “Pro-B” where “B” stands for beauty. This intends to promote beauty, cleanliness and green surrounding that starts at home.
This supplements the regular cleanliness evaluation of students’ dormitories that has been started and headed by Mr. Jonah Nierves, our Dormitory Supervisor while this time, staff cottages/houses are part of the beautification drive. The cottages/houses will be evaluated on a monthly basis based on the following category: a) beauty of landscape, b) cleanliness of house surroundings, c) well-maintenance of house fixtures/parts, and d) neighbor-friendly environment. Final rating result will be based on the average of two months evaluation period.
We are so grateful that our staff-residents joyfully supported this project, now we can conclude that those living inside SCC Campus are really healthy environment and beauty conscious people.
